We have examined household IBA nature and composition using SEM-EDX and DRX techniques. 

We have then proceeded to examine the viability of metal recycling from IBA, via small scale leaching in different conditions, varying the solvent solution pH, time and temperature. Furthermore, we have examined the resulting solutions by the means of ICP-OES titration with internal standard. Finally, we attempted to prove the recycling process concept by NaOH induced precipitation of the detected metals. 

Simultaneously, we used ICP-OES analysis to evaluate the toxicity of the IBA samples in order to predict the potential risks of using IBA as a filler material in road construction.
